There is nothing to beat the experience of singing with a big choir. The Bury Bach Choir has 80-100 active singing members and is fortunate to be able to perform a wide range of music with professional soloists and orchestra in a number of beautiful venues – St Edmundsbury Cathedral, St Mary’s Church in Bury St Edmunds, St Peter and St Paul Church in Lavenham, Holy Trinity Church in Long Melford and of course the wonderful Apex concert hall in the centre of Bury St Edmunds.
We normally have some vacancies in all voices. Come and join us! We have a great track record and an ambition to be one of the best choirs in East Anglia.
We rehearse on Wednesday evenings for two hours from 7:30 pm at the Lower Hall, King Edward VI School, Spring Lane, Bury St Edmunds, IP33 3BH, between September and June. On average we have 8 rehearsals for each concert. Our first rehearsal for our Bach St Mark Passion concert is on Wednesday 8 January 2025. Please if possible, arrive between 7.00 and 7.15pm so that we can get everyone checked in and ready to start by 7.30.
If you think you'd like to sing with the Choir, you are very welcome to contact Julia, our New Members' Secretary, who can arrange for you to come to one of our rehearsals to see if you like us.
After two or three rehearsals you will then be asked to meet with our conductor for a voice check before being invited to become a member of the choir.
We welcome singers of all ages and offer reduced subscriptions for members under the age of 30.

How to find us
When finding us for the first time, please note that there are two entrances to King Edward VI School (Grove Road and Spring Lane), and we use the entrance off Spring Lane. To get there, go north (downhill) on Parkway from the Risbygate/Parkway roundabout, then turn left into Springfield Road (just after the fire station). Veer slightly right into Spring Lane at the first junction, then follow Spring Lane round a right angle bend to the left. The school entrance is on your right. You can park in the first car park on your right, then find us through the main door, which is up beyond the small car park you’ve just passed on your left.
